Absence/Vacation Policy
To notify us of an upcoming absence or vacation, simply schedule an absence/vacation request on our scheduling system, or click on the link below.
Planning and organizing work for your child takes a great deal of thought and organization. We require at least a 1 week notice before any extended absence in order to put your child's vacation packet together.
During the holidays or in the summer, it's easy to let us know when you'll be gone and will need packets put together to cover your time away. You can fill out and submit the Vacation Schedule to let us know the class days your child will be absent so that we can organize the right amount of work for your child.
If we do not receive advance notice, we will try our best to put a packet together for you by the end of class that day. You may return to class 5 minutes before closing to pick it up. If we are too busy and are not able to put work together, we will call you and arrange to have it ready for you by the next scheduled class session.
Please let us know if you want your child to take a few days off, lessen the daily workload, or even increase the amount of work to be done over your vacation. However, if a parent requests extra work or an increase to the regular daily workload while on vacation, the work must be homegraded. Extra work will not be included into the student's lesson plan if it has not been homegraded by the parent while on vacation.
Policy
A student who, for whatever reason, does not pay tuition or take any Kumon materials in a given month for a particular subject is considered absent for that month for that subject. Students will be allowed a period of absence not to exceed one month per calendar year. Students who return/re-enroll after being reported as absent for more than one monthly period in a given calendar year will be assessed a registration fee. These students will also forfeit any accumulated Cosmic Club points and start with a zero balance. (Note: For Multi-Subject Students, the student would have to go absent for more than one month in all subjects concurrently for this policy to apply. Students remaining enrolled in at least one subject will not be affected by this policy.) This rule also applies to students who transfer to another Kumon Center.
